Well here we go...introducing Strawberry to all those who are interested.

She came to our home 6/16 in the evening. Met our three dogs, the two older females Sophie and Birdie and Patton a male, all good there. Actually I have to say more than good. There was no fussing at all. Even when our male Patton couldn't leave her alone(does not think he is neutered when he meets a pretty girl) she was way more patient with that than she should have been. I wanted her to give him a snarl with a nip to say "back off big boy". It took alot before she finally did. She had a litter recently and no more of that for her. I have not met her pup Shortcake but if it has her personality should be a great puppy.

She likes to be nearby but I would not say clingy. Warmed right up to my husband when he came home and met her the first time. We are taking her on walks leashed and so far she is not a puller. Now all that may change as she feels more confident. She does fuss a bit when other dogs are coming our way. Not a crazy thrashing scene but more of a grumble and bark. I will try and work on that.

I am writing this only three days into our fostering of Strawberry but in this time no potties in house. I actually do not feel like I have to keep eyes on her at all times already. We do and will crate her when we leave the house for some time yet. She does not like to go in but we place her in and then she does not fuss. I imagine it won't be too long before we leave her out overnight. She has found all the soft spots to lay. Even likes to be snuggled up to one of our dogs at times. Knows what a couch and bed are for, smart girl.

She is 14" tall at the shoulder and a VERY THIN 15.4 lbs. She had the pups which took a toll and also not unusual for these rescue dogs to have  intestinal parasites. So she will be on meds for that. Fleas were a problem for her also. That and having the pups has done a number on her hair coat. Fleas are gone, don't worry and her itchiness is already lessened. We will feed her a nutritious diet here and look for improvement. She has plenty of energy and is a happy girl so I feel confident she is not ill just needs to get fattened up.

She enjoys being in our fenced in yard and racing around fast. Uses a big rock, our fire pit, and our dogs as obstacles to make loops around. Makes me laugh. She also just likes hanging out and at times is not willing to come inside. That is what the treat jar is for.

So that's alot of info and we will have more stories to come on this sweet girl. I am in no hurry to loose her and will enjoy her time with us.
